Brief Itinerary :
- Day 01: Arrival at Katunayake Airport - Transfer to Colombo
Welcome to Sri Lanka! Upon your arrival at Katunayake Airport, you will be greeted by our friendly guide, who will assist with your transfer to your hotel in Colombo. Colombo is the vibrant commercial and cultural capital of Sri Lanka, offering a mix of modern and colonial architecture, and a lively atmosphere. Spend the evening at your leisure exploring the city, shopping at local markets, visiting nearby attractions like the Galle Face Green or the Colombo National Museum, or relaxing at your hotel.
- Day 02: Colombo to Sigiriya
After breakfast at your hotel, you’ll begin your journey to Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its ancient rock fortress. Upon arrival, check into your accommodation in Sigiriya and enjoy some free time to rest. In the late afternoon, you will have the chance to explore the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, also known as Lion’s Rock. The climb to the top will reward you with magnificent views of the surrounding countryside, including lush jungles, serene water gardens, and the famous frescoes of the “Sigiriya Maidens.”
- Day 03: Sigiriya to Kandy - Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast, start your day with a visit to Dambulla Cave Temple, located just a short drive away from Sigiriya. The Dambulla Cave Temple is a large and impressive complex of five caves filled with hundreds of Buddha statues, murals, and paintings that date back to the 1st century BC. Following the visit, continue your journey to Kandy, Sri Lanka’s cultural heart. Upon arrival, check into your hotel in Kandy and enjoy the picturesque surroundings of the city. Kandy is home to the famous Temple of the Tooth Relic, one of the most sacred Buddhist temples in the world. You’ll have the opportunity to visit the temple, learn about its rich history, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere surrounding Kandy Lake. In the afternoon, you’ll travel further into the hill country to Nuwara Eliya, a beautiful colonial-era town known for its cool climate and tea plantations. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy the serene atmosphere of this charming hill station. You may choose to explore the town, visit the Hakgala Botanical Gardens, or simply relax at your accommodation.
- Day 04: Nuwara Eliya to Ella - Udawalawe
After breakfast in Nuwara Eliya, start your day by driving to Ella, a picturesque town known for its scenic views of tea plantations, waterfalls, and green hills. Take a stroll through the town and visit the famous Nine Arches Bridge, an iconic railway bridge surrounded by lush greenery. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also hike up to Ella Rock for panoramic views of the area. In the afternoon, continue your journey to Udawalawe, a major wildlife destination in Sri Lanka. Check into your accommodation and, if time allows, you can enjoy a thrilling safari in Udawalawe National Park, which is renowned for its large elephant population. You may also spot a variety of other wildlife, including water buffalo, deer, and numerous bird species.
- Day 05: Udawalawe to Mirissa
After an early breakfast, depart from Udawalawe and head towards Mirissa, a beautiful coastal town on Sri Lanka’s southern coast. Mirissa is known for its pristine beaches, laid-back atmosphere, and whale-watching opportunities. Upon arrival, check into your hotel in Mirissa and spend the day relaxing at the beach or enjoying water activities such as snorkeling, surfing, or taking a boat trip. If you're visiting during the whale-watching season (typically from November to April), you’ll have the chance to embark on an exciting whale-watching tour in the Indian Ocean, where you may spot blue whales, sperm whales, and dolphins. In the evening, enjoy a peaceful sunset by the beach before returning to your hotel for the night.
- Day 06: Mirissa to Galle - Departure
After breakfast, you will depart for Galle, a historic town located on the southern coast of Sri Lanka. Galle is known for its Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its well-preserved colonial architecture. Explore the charming streets of the Galle Fort, which is home to Dutch-period buildings, cobblestone streets, and picturesque cafes and boutiques. Visit the Galle Lighthouse for stunning views of the coastline, and explore the Galle National Museum to learn more about the region’s history. After touring Galle, you will be transferred to Katunayake Airport for your departure. Depending on your flight time, you may have a chance to do some last-minute shopping or explore the local area before your flight back home.
